Education

Tufts University: BA in Child Development

University of Maryland: MS in Family Studies/Marriage and Family Therapy

 

Research

Master’s Thesis on psychological/emotional abuse in intimate relationships

Participated in research that analyzed the effectiveness of a communication program designed by couples therapy experts at the Family Service Center at University of Maryland

 

Training

Specialized training as a Marriage and Family Therapist.  Although there are many counselors and therapists that provide marriage and family counseling, my training differed significantly.  For example, for my first two years training to be a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), I videotaped my sessions with couples and families.  These videos were then reviewed and critiqued with experienced therapists, who provided feedback and advice.  This kind of supervision is unique to the training  of Marriage and Family Therapists and is invaluable in the development of a therapist’s ability to help.  

Training in the following approaches for use with children and individuals: Child Centered Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
